Indonesia, Part 1
Indonesia, Part 1 is a series of 30 postcards. Each of the postcards is an original gelatin silver printed mounted to an archival drawing paper, which is in turn mounted to a 4″ x 6″ piece of corrugated plastic. The photographs were all made during the summer of 2011 in Bali and Java. The postcards were mailed to artists, curators, and publishers in both the United States and Indonesia.

Some Photographs…And Photographs of Photographs
Indonesia-Ithaca; 2011-2012
The photographs in Some Photographs…And Photographs of Photographs were made in Bali and Java during the summer of 2011, while pursuing a research project on photography and art education in Indonesia. Each of the photographs in the edition are unique gelatin silver prints toned with various combinations of gold, selenium, and tea. The prints vary in size, but are each roughly 3 1/2″ x 2 1/4″.

These collages are from a short series made from a book called Old Masters of the British School. The images are illustrations from a British collection, each a hand pulled photogravure.

About a year ago, I began a series of collages made from the pieces of old books.
These collages continue this series. Each of these collages are made from pieces of different book – Fragments for a History of the Human Body, The Brighter Side of War, Old Masters of the British School, etc…

Les Baux de Provence
June 2009
At night, there was the feeling that we had come home, feeling no longer alone, waking in the night to find the other one there, and not gone away; all other things were unreal. We slept when we were tired and if we woke the other one woke too so one was not alone. Often a man wishes to be alone and a woman wishes to be alone too and if they love each other they are jealous of that in each other, but I can truly say we never felt that. We could feel alone when we were together, alone against the others. We were never lonely and never afraid when we were together.

Les Baux de Provence was photographed over two weeks during June 2009. Les Baux is a medieval fortress in south central France, not far from Arles. The pictures were made as a commission for my brother’s wedding.
Les Baux de Provence is a set of 36 silver gelatin prints toned with Lipton tea. Each print is about 2 1/2 bt 4 inches, and they are all housed in handmade wooden boxes.

Bearding the Lamb
Bearding the Lamb is a series of 5 postcards made from illustrations from an early text book for young actors. “Bearding the Lamb” is the title of the first chapter. All of the postcards were given away.

Discarded
Discarded is a series of unique artist’s books, all constructed from recycled books. The books used for the project have all been found in trash bins or $1 piles. In reinventing or reconstructing the books, the original pages are cut out of the binding, and the boards and spines are then used again, though the pages replaced with my own photographs.
